Career Plot Twist Loading…
Soft Launching My Art Era
Hello beautiful people! Recently, I’ve been busy doing things, making things, and, of course, having thoughts (WAYYY too many of them). Since our last chat, I:
• Tried my first macaron
• Started a Duolingo streak for Spanish and Korean (because life is too short to speak only one language)
• Finished a 925-page book
• Started making my own website
• Met two new friends
• Went to the dentist (the no cavity streak since birth continues)
• inhaled 308,000 times
• Purchased a few too many things (but I’m definitely not mad about it)
I probably spent a little too much money this month, but one good thing came out of it (aside from my guilty happiness). I got some art supplies and began using them. I wanted to try out some acrylic water-based paint markers with a brush tip, so I got some and did just that. Here are some creatures I created with my new stuff:
Lately, I have been shifting my perspective on my career. When I was in preschool, I wanted to be a glass artist, by eight, a voice actress (still my dream job, btw), by 11, an SNL cast member, then a filmmaker, cartoon creator, and writer for an adult animated series. It’s hard to know which route to take when I have so many interests. As of now, I’m not sure of exactly how to start my career, even if I know what my biggest dreams and goals are. I just need to find a way to dip my toes in the water, preferably without another unpaid internship.
I have many options on paths I could go down, but I would be lying if I said I should exclude art from the list. I never considered it much of a profession for myself until recently. It does make sense, though. Art is something I know how to do, doesn’t take me all that long at times, and I find theraputic. At the moment, it’s difficult to find comedy writing jobs. Luckily, art is a medium that I can combine with humor and writing, so I don’t have to completely pause comedy in my career if I want to take art more seriously.
The truth is, I’ve already begun somewhat of a professional art career without thinking about it. I’ve made a few single/EP/album covers, labels for a BBQ sauce company, an animated intro for a comedy duo, and sold a couple of original pieces (not JUST to family). When I did those projects, I wasn’t actively trying to have an art career, so if I put my mind to it, I’m hoping even more opportunities will come. It would be so much fun to do illustrations for books and merchandise. This doesn’t mean I have to give up any other passions; I just want to see the potential in one of them.
Here’s a haul of some of my new materialistic things, because it’s fun to treat yourself sometimes!
Yay! Capitalism! 🥰
As always, here are my recent photos! I hope you all have a nice end to/start of the month.

With love,
Zoz <3

I always enjoy your blog, Zoe. I liked seeing the artworks and photos. Have you considered becoming an illustrator for children’s books? I attend an annual book festival for children’s books. Illustrators attend the festival, too. I love seeing their work. I’m guessing there might be some publishing offices where you live. Or, perhaps you could put together a portfolio of artworks to submit to publishers.
